We are an educational beekeeping platform based in Alexandria, Egypt. We do not sell products or personal data.

1. Who We Are

De la Ruche à l'Olivier is an educational platform focused on artisan honey production and beekeeping knowledge from Egyptian apiaries. The platform is operated from Alexandria, Egypt. We publish informational content about honey varieties, harvesting methods, quality indicators, and beekeeping practices for enthusiasts. We do not engage in commercial food production, product sales, or certification services.

For the purposes of Egyptian Law No. 151 of 2020, De la Ruche à l'Olivier is the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

We collect only the data you provide through our contact form, plus basic technical data generated by your browser.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect two categories of data:

Information you provide directly: When you use our contact form, you may submit your full name, email address, telephone number, your selected inquiry subject, and the content of your message. This data is submitted voluntarily.

Technical and usage data: When you visit our website, standard web server logs and analytics tools may record your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, time and date of visit, and time spent on pages. This data is collected automatically and is not directly linked to your identity unless you also submit a contact form.

We do not collect sensitive categories of personal data as defined under Egyptian Law No. 151 of 2020, including health information, biometric data, financial data, or religious or political beliefs.

Data reaches us through our contact form and through standard browser-to-server communication when you browse the site.

3. How We Collect Data

Contact form data is transmitted directly to our registered email address when you submit the form. The transmission uses the mailto protocol and is handled by your own email client.

Technical data is collected passively through web server logs and, where you have consented, through cookie-based analytics tools. See Section 7 for full details of our cookie usage.

We do not use third-party lead generation tools, data brokers, or purchased contact lists.

We process your data either because you gave us consent or because we have a legitimate interest in operating this educational platform.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under Egyptian Law No. 151 of 2020 and general data protection principles, we rely on the following bases for processing personal data:

Consent: Where you tick the privacy checkbox on our contact form, you are providing explicit consent for us to process the information submitted in that form for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us directly.

Legitimate interests: We have a legitimate interest in understanding how our website is used so that we can improve the educational content we provide. Analytics data is processed on this basis, subject to your cookie consent preferences.

Legal obligation: We may process or retain data where required to do so by applicable Egyptian law.

Your contact data is used only to respond to your inquiry. Analytics data helps us understand how the site is used.

5. How We Use Your Data

Contact form data is used solely to read your inquiry and compose a personal response. We do not add contact form submissions to any mailing list, newsletter, or marketing campaign. We do not use your contact details to contact you for any purpose other than responding to the specific inquiry you submitted.

Technical and analytics data is used to understand which pages are visited, how users navigate the site, and what content is of most interest. This helps us maintain and improve the quality of our educational resources. This data is reviewed in aggregate and is not used to profile individual visitors.

We do not sell your data. We may share limited technical data with analytics service providers under appropriate agreements.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer personal data to third parties for commercial purposes.

Where we use third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics, subject to your cookie consent), those providers receive technical usage data under their own privacy frameworks. Google Analytics is subject to Google's privacy policy and standard contractual clauses for international data transfers.

We may disclose personal data if required to do so by Egyptian law, court order, or legitimate request from Egyptian authorities under applicable legal process.

In the event that this platform is transferred to a new operator, personal data held at that time may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the new operator providing equivalent privacy protections.

We use cookies for site functionality and, with your consent, for analytics. You can manage your preferences at any time.

7. Cookies and Tracking

This website uses cookies. A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by the website you are visiting. For full details of the cookies we use, their purpose, and how to manage them, please see our Cookie Policy.

In brief: we use essential cookies required for the site to function correctly, and, with your consent, analytics cookies to understand site usage. Cookie preferences are recorded in a cookie named "dlrao_consent" and persist for 365 days.

You may withdraw or change your cookie consent at any time by clicking the cookie preferences link in the website footer or by clearing your browser cookies.

Contact form emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your inquiry. Analytics data is retained according to the service provider's retention settings.

8. Data Retention

Contact form submissions are received as emails and are retained in our email system for the period necessary to address your inquiry and any reasonable follow-up, typically no longer than 24 months from the date of the original inquiry. After this period, emails containing personal data are deleted.

Analytics data retained by third-party analytics providers is subject to the retention periods set by those providers. Where we have control over retention settings, we configure them to the shortest reasonable period.

Technical log data generated by our web hosting provider is subject to the hosting provider's standard retention policy.

Under Egyptian data protection law, you have rights to access, correct, delete, and restrict processing of your personal data.

9. Your Rights

Under Egyptian Law No. 151 of 2020 on the Protection of Personal Data, you have the following rights in relation to personal data we hold about you:

Right of access: You may request confirmation of whether we hold personal data about you and, if so, a copy of that data.

Right to correction: You may request that inaccurate personal data be corrected and that incomplete data be completed.

Right to deletion: You may request that we delete personal data about you where it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or where you withdraw consent and there is no other legal basis for processing.

Right to restriction: You may request that we restrict processing of your personal data in certain circumstances, for example while the accuracy of data is being verified.

Right to object: You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling for analytics purposes.

Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@delaruchealolivier.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

We take reasonable technical steps to protect data we hold, though no online transmission is entirely risk-free.

10. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Our website uses HTTPS encryption for data transmitted between your browser and our server.

Contact form submissions are transmitted via your own email client using the mailto protocol. The security of this transmission depends in part on your email service provider's security measures.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is entirely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet, and you do so at your own risk. If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
